Description:
The Library of Parliament first opened its doors in 1876. Its exceptional architectural quality and prominent place on Parliament Hill makes it Canada's best example of the Neo-Gothic High Victorian Style. MCLD was tasked with illuminating this remarkable structure while updating the lighting for the needs of a 21st century clientele. Great care was taken in the renovation and updating of the existing heritage fixtures. In addition, a layer of illumination as added for the newly introduced reading desks and stacks. MCLD employed theatrical techniques to effectively light the domes, cross lighting the dome to avoid shadows from the hanging heritage fixtures.
