Client: Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson hall
Services: Interior Architectural Lighting, Exterior Architectural Lighting, Specification of production lighting
Location: Toronto, ON
Description:
MCLD was engaged to compete designs for house lighting, stage lighting, and exterior lighting at Roy Thomson Hall. Of the three, house lighting and stage lighting are complete, and exterior lighting is pending. The stage lighting entailed a retrofit of all of the production lighting to suit the needs to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and a variety of corporate and other musical presentations. On the house lighting, MCLD was responsible for retrofitting all fixtures to LED systems.
On the stage lighting retrofit, MCLD completed extensive research in order to specify lighting instruments which were silent enough to not interfere with performances and still provide excellent optics and colour temperature for the performers of the TSO. The final specification included both static LED spot fixtures and state of the art new LED moving head fixtures
