Description:

Martin Conboy and Robert (R.H) Thomson undertook in 2007, 2009 and 2010 to commemorate with a vigil the loss of Canadian life in the First World War. We felt that one way of doing this was to project a name of each of the men who died in the fighting onto significant monuments and buildings from London, England to Calgary, Canada. Over the course of 7 days, ending at sunrise of the morning of November 11, the names of approximately 67,000 Canadian men were projected onto each monument and building. The names were first projected in London, England before winding their way across Canada from Halifax to Alberta. The projections were supported by a website which allowed the public to determine with an accuracy within 2 minutes the time and location when any given name would be projected onto each structure.
